Our Story
Our Founding
As the pandemic hit in 2020, Your One Wish rallied to ensure that children who relied on free school meals would still receive a meal whilst learning from home. Delivering food to those on the frontline in the NHS and providing hot meals to the elderly and homeless, we learned how difficult things were for the organisations that exist to help those most in need.
In 2023, as the cost of living crisis hit, people across the UK were forced to choose between feeding their families or heating their homes.
Food banks saw a massive increase in demand - alongside a drop in donations due to tightened purse strings - often leaving them short of supplies and struggling to support the families who were relying on them.
With a shared vision of making a positive impact in communities acoss the world, YOW Foodbank arose - a branch of Your One Wish dedicated to ensuring that food and basic supplies are available to everyone.
Our Growth
Over the last year, YOW Foodbank has grown rapidly, working with a wide range of trusted partners and offering a variety of support across the world - from supporting community kitchens in West London to feeding children in schools in Ghana; from supplying food banks in Norwich to providing meals for abandoned girls and babies in India - with many others already in the pipeline. There are so many wonderful organisation in need of support and our aim is to reach as many of them as possible.
Our Impact
At YOW Foodbank, we measure our success by the impact we have on the lives of those we serve. We are proud to have already helped thousands of individuals and families in need, and to have made a positive difference in our community and beyond.
